Omicron’s relationship is both broad and deep and shares common geographies, technologies
and industries. Omicron supports a worldwide relationship with Microsoft, with unique
areas of focus in the Mid-Atlantic Region and within Redmond. Our approach to the
market brings uniformity to Microsoft’s product subdivision and organizational alignment
to company size. Through Omicron, who consults to the full range of Microsoft clients
here and around the world, we present a unified understanding and approach to the
implementation of Microsoft technologies.
Omicron was the first Microsoft Certified Partner in the Greater PA District to
receive a Dual Gold Certification in both Application and Infrastructure technologies.
In the years that have followed, Microsoft has awarded Omicron with advanced competency
certifications in Seven of its leading technology segments. During that time we
have also been the recipients of a variety of Microsoft awards, including:
2006 Microsoft Achievement Award, in recognition of our Briefcase Series Program
2007 Partner of the Year
A Partner Should be Viewed through their Advanced Competencies
The advanced competency designation from Microsoft is achieved as the result of
Microsoft technical assessment of its partners and the formal feedback from partner
clients. In our case, we are formally certified as the “goto” partner in the following
areas:
- AppDev and Commerce Server Tools and Development
- SQL Server
- MOSS
- Business Information and Performance Point Server
- BizTalk
- Infrastructure and Network Management (System Center)
- Exchange Migration and Deployment
- Virtualization
- Unified Communications
Microsoft and Omicron have joined forces to develop new programs and competencies in the areas of Unified Communication and Virtualization, as Microsoft moves into these industry-leading positions.
Going Well Beyond Gold Partner
Beyond the traditional Gold Partner status, Omicron was been recognized as a Microsoft Solution Provider Partner - the highest distinction given to a participant in Microsoft's Solution Provider program. With over 160,000 US partners, including less than 10,000 Gold Certified, our Solution Provider Partner status is even more distinctive.
In the past few years, Microsoft has continued its efforts to give distinction and elevate the status of its leading partners through a variety of programs and designations. During that time, Omicron has been rewarded with membership in Microsoft’s NSI Program and Delta Force Program. The National System Integrator Program includes Microsoft’s top 100 Partners from around the United States. Even more elite, Omicron is a member of Microsoft’s Delta Force, a group of 75 the most innovative Partners in the Microsoft environment. To our clients, the advantage is our access to early adoption programs and versions of Microsoft technologies.
Omicron is a regular participant in Microsoft’s TAP programs, designed to give early access to a limited number of partners and customers. Through this program and others, Omicron has normally accumulated a year or so of practical experience with emerging technologies before they are released for production to the broad customer base. That experience and investment on our part, readies Omicron as our clients ready themselves to deploy new Microsoft technology.
As a result of our unique position, Omicron has partnered with both the marketing and software development teams of Microsoft-Redmond Campus to deliver services to industry leaders. In fact, Omicron is proud to call Microsoft Corporation one of its clients. Further, Omicron has partnered with a myriad of Microsoft Product Managers in the publishing of over 20 texts on Microsoft technologies.
We are more than Partners!
Microsoft is both a partner and customer of Omicron, as we have been called on to support both internal and client initiatives on Microsoft’s behalf. Working jointly, or independently, Omicron offers its clients the insight that comes when working with Microsoft technology and directly with this prolific manufacturer during the formative periods of many of its leading products. Further, as a consultant to Microsoft, we bring advance insight and multi-version planning, design and implementation wisdom into our client engagements, only achievable through the relationship.
In more practical terms, Omicron has also been the recommended source for Microsoft investment in client initiatives and projects. Omicron has a widely recognized role as force behind joint initiatives and incubating investments in client initiatives. Serving all three parties – Omicron’s client, Omicron and Microsoft, these joint efforts often provide the all or part of the funding to lift valuable initiative off the planning table.
Omicron Gives Back Through Education – The “award-winning” Briefcase Series
Omicron provides our joint client community, through the presentation of The Brief Case Series. This seminar series was the recipient of Microsoft’s 2006 Excellence Award, one of only five such awards presented by Microsoft. This program, produced by Omicron, provides an ongoing suite of presentations which provide and enlighten its attendees with the latest in Microsoft technologies, but from the perspective of their practical application and use in the building of solutions. Well over 5000 individuals, representing over 1000 companies attend these sessions over the recent three years.

Omicron was the first Microsoft Certified Partner in the Greater PA District to
receive a Dual Gold Certification. This dual certification is now in Advanced
Infrastructure Solutions and Integrated E-Business Solutions. Such certification
is part of a program launched by Microsoft that seeks to raise the visibility and
awareness of its key strategic partners and to help direct customers to a select
stable of world-class Certified Partners—those with proven expertise in specific
Microsoft applications and technologies. Gold Certification is the highest designation
currently extended by Microsoft to such Partners. Certification and acceptance into
the program requires exacting standards for Partner companies. To be considered,
companies must submit in-depth case studies of major assignments completed in the
last 12 months.
Omicron was one of the first companies nationwide to receive the designation and,
as stated above, the first firm in the Greater PA District to receive a dual Gold
Certification. The dual Gold Certification from Microsoft serves to validate Omicron's
ability to develop, deploy and manage sophisticated e-commerce systems for its clients
as well as its expertise in creating enterprise-wide infrastructure to make such
e-commerce programs work.
Omicron has maintained a unique relationship with Microsoft, serving as a strategic
partner in the deployment of Microsoft technologies as well as a consultant and
software developer to Microsoft itself. Omicron's ability to serve Microsoft's needs,
as well as the needs of its accounts, speaks volumes about Omicron's technical prowess
and its tradition of serving world-class clients, here as well as nationwide.
Omicron has particularly strong expertise in implementing Microsoft solutions such
as SharePoint, BizTalk and .NET.
Prior to attaining the highest certification in Microsoft's most recent partner
program, Omicron was recognized as a Microsoft Solution Provider Partner - the highest
distinction given to a participant in Microsoft's previous Solution Provider program.
These elevated statuses provide Omicron unique access to Microsoft products, technologies,
and information. Omicron has received numerous recognitions from Microsoft over
the years, including being one of the hand-picked members of the "Intranet Special
Forces" team due to Omicron's early commitment to Internet technologies and its
expertise using Microsoft products. Omicron was also evaluated by a Microsoft Product
Group, in Redmond, relating to an implementation of a technology licensed by 100's
of OEM Customers. Microsoft stated that we had done the best job second only to
Visio in the implementation of the technology that was licensed from Microsoft.
This list included companies such as AutoDesk and SAP.
As a result of this evaluation and approval, Omicron has partnered with both the
marketing and software development teams of Microsoft-Redmond Campus to deliver
services to industry leaders. In fact, Omicron is proud to call Microsoft Corporation
one of its clients. Another example of the level of depth we attain is our work
with Microsoft's BizTalk product. Although BizTalk was released in December of 2000,
Omicron first started working with the BizTalk team in March of 1999, almost two
years before the product was generally available. This early work in both XML and
BizTalk has allowed us to support five authors within Omicron Consulting, allowing
them to write numerous books on XML and BizTalk.
