PI Batch

Many long-standing OSIsoft customers have relied on the PI Infrastructure for collection and analysis of real-time data. A significant percentage of these customers are in industries such as Life Sciences, Chemicals, and Food Processing whose manufacturing processes are batch-oriented rather than discrete or continuous. As such while there is interest in certain areas around continuous processing, the batch context around the manufacturing data is where the real power of the information exists. While the information and systems necessary for this batch context currently exist in these organizations, the knowledge to implement it in context with the PI real-time data does not.

• MDB/AF Design Specification of the data constructs for capturing batch hierarchy – generally in S88 format.
• EVT Interface enables automatic generation of batch information from batch systems such as Rockwell RSBatch (formerly Sequencia’s OpenBatch), Emerson’s DeltaV Batch Executive, Honeywell’s Total Plant Batch, and Intellution’s iBatch.
• New Generation Interfaces - For some the more popular control systems, OSI is replacing the EVT Interface, a staple for thousands of PI systems worldwide. Instead of the generic, one size fits all EVT interface, multiple new interfaces are being developed to reflect the unique capabilities of each control system.
• PI Batch Generator - The PI BAGEN Interface collects data from the PI Server (from the PI Data Archive and the PI Module Database), generates batch data and writes the batch data to the PI Server in the PI Batch Database. PIBaGen is used when there is no native interface to generate and store batch data in the PI System.
• PI ACE - The PI ACE engine can be used in conjunction with PIBAGEN for capture and correlation of complex batch triggering mechanisms.
