PHILADELPHIA, PA, July 28, 2005 – Omicron, a leading Philadelphia-based IT consulting firm, will be sponsoring the Kelly Clarkson Concert Event at the Toms RiverFest 2005 on Saturday, July 30th.
The Toms RiverFest 2005 is a four-day, music, art and cultural festival presented by the Toms River Regional School District and is slated to run from Thursday, July 28 through Sunday, July 31, on the grounds of Toms River High School. Expected to draw as many as 100,000 people, the festival’s stated mission is to bring local, regional, and world-renowned entertainment to the Toms River, New Jersey community. The first American Idol contest winner, Kelly Clarkson, will hit the main stage as the featured performer on Saturday.
Other top-name acts scheduled to perform at the Toms Riverfest during its four-day run include Clay Aiken, Keith Urban, Jesse McCartney, Billy Ray Cyrus and Maroon 5. On-site entertainment will include a BMX stunt show, arts and crafts show, antique car show, and amusement rides.
“The Toms RiverFest is part of our continued devotion to supporting our children, the Toms River School District and the Dover Township community,” said Frank D’Alonzo, Supervisor, Technology, of Toms River Regional Schools. “Omicron was a founding sponsor of our community center and has been a long term supporter of our schools and our community.”
The Toms River Regional School District has had a successful working relationship with Omicron for the last several years. Five years ago, the Toms River Regional Schools decided to define its “School of the Future”, installing high-speed internet and e-mail access to serve its 18 locations and 5,000 faculty and administration, and to aid in the delivery of education to its students. Omicron designed, implemented and now supports this data center and has implemented over 5,000 desktop computers with Internet, e-mail and network access, and educational software. Omicron and Toms River Regional Schools have recently added video on demand, computer labs, IP security, custom attendance applications with automated call-out system, student information system, SAN and storage technologies, and a public website (www.trschools.com). Omicron is also in the process of developing a state and departmental reporting system for the Toms River Regional Schools, as well as adding an educational portal to the public website that would enhance parental access. “The goal of the project and our mission is to improve the educational lives of our students. Technology is allowing us to directly connect students and parents as a part of our educational process. Moreover, the platform we have created and continue to improve connects the entire community in support of the growth of our children”, commented D’Alonzo.
The Toms River Regional School District serves nearly 20,000 students and is the largest suburban school district in the state of New Jersey. The district employs approximately 2,500 individuals and encompasses a region of over 100,000 residents in Dover, Beechwood, South Toms River and Pine Beach, New Jersey. By hosting this event, the Township of Dover, the Ocean County Chamber of Commerce, and the Toms River Regional School District will be able to use the generated funds from this event to help develop recreational programs and sites for use by the entire community.
