A National Professional Licensure Organization wanted to migrate from a manual paper-based testing process to a secure Computer-Based Training (CBT) method. OmicronŽ built a testing platform that had an extremely flexible environment for the production & delivery of their exams. In order to do this we used XML & XSL as the base technologies. Both OmicronŽ and the Client agreed that XML, though in its infancy, offered the flexibility needed to get ahead of the technology curve.
The new system, one of the first products nationally to adopt XML at its core, handles the assembly of content and tests, delivers & manages the execution of exams and records exam answers for students who want to be licensed professionally in the United States. Exams can now be offered on a continuous basis rather than at pre-scheduled times; with tighter security than the old paper-based method. Because of the flexibility provided by the approach OmicronŽ recommended, the client is migrating most of its major information systems to XML technology.
